Ink cartridges should always be handled with proper care because these are delicate objects. If you don’t exercise proper handling of ink cartridges, you may not obtain the maximum performance out of it.
Ink cartridges have two different types. Each type has a different way of handling. The HP, Dell and Lexmark cartridges are more delicate than other brands and the print head is a very sensitive piece of equipment. So don’t touch the print head. The Epson, Brother and Canon cartridges may be described as ink tanks. They don’t require as much delicate handling as the first type. The only thing that you should remember is to avoid breaking the seal on the bottom of the cartridge unless you are going to put it in the printer.
